Keep your pet looking clean and feeling healthy this year. Properly grooming your pet is very important to its health and will keep it happy and healthy for years to come.
Basic grooming includes brushing, bathing and clipping nails. Did you know that it is really important to trim your pets nails before they get too long? When the nails grow too long, they make contact with the floor, causing the pet’s paws to readjust the way they walk and stand. Nails that are too long will bend and break, leading to long-term discomfort for your pet and can lead to arthritis in your dog’s paws.
There are two methods we primarily use to shorten pet’s nails – by clipping with nail clippers which are spefically designed for pets, or by grinding the nails – this is the equivalent of using a nail file on humans, but we use a small grinder like a Dremel. This method is slower, but is preferable on dogs with black nails as it is hard to see where the quick starts.
